LCS General Manager Yang Wei announces the groundbreaking of the slag flotation engineering project
The slag flotation project is a supporting project for LCS's pyrometallurgical copper smelting process extension and enhanced comprehensive recovery. Upon completion and commissioning, the project will contribute to better recovery of valuable elements, fully utilize stockpiled electric furnace slag resources, effectively increase copper recovery rates, and simultaneously address the issue of electric furnace slag stockpiling. This will significantly reduce energy consumption and production costs, thereby improving corporate profitability. With a tight construction schedule and heavy tasks ahead, the slag flotation project team members have embraced a pioneering and responsible spirit, taking swift action and meticulous planning while actively cooperating closely with all construction parties involved. From engineering surveys, construction design, equipment procurement negotiations, equipment ordering to engineering construction, clear division of responsibilities and step-by-step implementation have been ensured to guarantee the timely completion and commissioning of the project. The project will inject new momentum into the company's "14th Five-Year Plan" finale and the realization of high-quality development.

While ensuring its own stable development, the company continuously expands its development space and shares development opportunities with local communities. Upon timely completion and commissioning, the project will also provide certain employment opportunities and positions for the local society, and foster more compound technical talents locally.
At 10 a.m. on March 24, 2024 (Democratic Republic of the Congo time), the " Mabende Digital Energy Project Signing Ceremony" was successfully held at the headquarters of China Nonferrous Mining Hong Kong Holdings Limited in Lubumbashi. Chen Zhimin, Chairman of China Nonferrous Mining Hong Kong Holdings Limited, and Wang Fangqing, General Manager of the joint venture company with China Sixth Metallurgical Construction Co., Ltd. (Democratic Republic of the Congo), signed on behalf of both parties. This marked China Nonferrous Mining Hong Kong Holdings Limited as the first Chinese mining company to take substantive steps in exploring solutions to alleviate the local mining area's power supply shortage.
The project will innovatively integrate photovoltaic power generation with CNMC Huachin Mabende Mining SA's existing local grid and diesel generator through a microgrid system, fully utilize the abundant solar energy resources in the Lubumbashi region where the company is located. It will annually supply 10.91 million kWh of electricity, ensuring a stable power supply for the company's normal production operations. Calculations show that upon completion, the project can reduce carbon emissions by 119.32 tons per year.
This is another endeavor by China Nonferrous Mining Hong Kong Holdings Limited to incorporate the green development concept into the entire process of managing projects along the "Belt and Road". As a leader in practicing green, low-carbon, circular, and sustainable production methods overseas, the company better aligns the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, supports the green development of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and contributes to creating a harmonious and livable shared home for humanity.
