On December 17, Wang Tongzhou, Chairman of the Board of Directors, President and General Manager of CNMC met Gao Xiangming, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Taiyuan Iron and Steel (Group) Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as TISCO) and his delegation, and both parties reached broad consensus on further reinforcement of pragmatic cooperation, etc.
During the talks, Chairman Wang Tongzhou expressed his congratulation to the achievements made by TISCO in recent years during the reform and opening up, and introduced the general information of CNMC about the reform and development made in recent years as well as the strategic thoughts of focusing on industry, highlighting major businesses and concentrating on specialty, and making the development and utilization of mineral resources stronger, making engineering contract bigger, making trading business more practical, making capital better and giving priority to the development of international business. He stated that, TISCO was a whole-process steel enterprise with more than 80 years of history, a global leader in stainless steel industry as well as a very important strategic partner of CNMC. CNMC was a bellwether of China's non-ferrous industry in "Going Abroad", and has a wide range of international business experience and distinct industrial advantages. The Dagon nickel project in Myanmar cooperated by both parties was the largest cooperative project between China and Myanmar in the field of mining, and had obtained better social and economic benefits. He hoped that, both parties could further strengthen the communications and exchange, promote each other, work closely and mutually, grasp the period of important strategic opportunities for national development, promote the high-quality development of Dagon nickel project in Myanmar jointly, thus making new and greater contributions to the continuous deepening of the friendship between China and Myanmar.
Chairman Gao Xiangming stated that, CNMC made continuous achievements in practicing the strategy of "Going Abroad" and the "Belt and Road" Initiative, made new development, and was a leading enterprise of China's non-ferrous industry in developing international cooperation. TISCO walked in the forefront of the industry in production management, technological equipment, technology innovation, etc., and was a leading enterprise in stainless steel industry. The Dagon nickel project in Myanmar cooperated and operated by both parties had become a benchmark enterprise in the world in mining, beneficiation, metallurgy and environmental protection for laterite nickel deposits. The strategic development philosophy of both parties highly correspond to each other, with a secure strategic partnership, and both parties hoped to further strengthen communication to complement each other, and develop more in-depth and pragmatic cooperation in broader fields so as to achieve win-win results.
