August 22, 2018, Zambia, the company held a production commencement ceremony in the southeast ore body project of Chambishi Copper Mine, a copper mine invested in by the company in Zambia. Accompanied by Li Jie, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, Wang Tongzhou, Chairman of the Holding Group, Edgar Lungu, President of Zambia and senior Zambian government officials attended the production commencement ceremony and cut the ribbon for the project.
The total investment of the southeast ore body project of Chambishi Copper Mine is 830 million US dollars. 3.3 million tons of ores are selected and mined and 63,000 tons of copper containing concentrates are produced every year. The exploration was carried out at the end of 2008 and the infrastructure construction was started in 2012. The project is the first digital mine project in Africa. The production commencement of the southeast ore body project of Chambishi Copper Mine is the latest achievement of the Chinese-African friendly cooperation at the upcoming Beijing Summit of the Sino-Africa Cooperation Forum. It is an active embodiment of CNMC's commitment to deepening Sino-Zambia all-weather friendship and building a Sino-Zambia Community of a common future since it entered Zambia twenty years ago.
