2018 Annual Collective Consultation of CNMC Luanshya Copper Mines PLC, subsidiary of China Nonferrous Metal Mining Co., Ltd. was successfully completed

On the morning of March 13, 2018, the signing ceremony of 2018 annual collective agreement of a funded company in Zambia, CNMC Luanshya, was held. The deputy general manager Wang Jingjun and the principal of the Mineworkers Union of Zambia(MUZ) as well as the National Union of Miners and Allied Workers(NUMAW) signed the text of the collective agreement on behalf of the employer and the employee, signifying that the 2018 collective consultation after 15 rounds of long negotiations had finally come to a successful conclusion.
- 2018 collective consultation between the company and the labor union started on November 2, 2017. This work involved the vital interests and appeals of the employees of the Zambian Party, affected the cost-effectiveness of the company, and involved the stability of the labor-management relations, which had a large impact, and strong policy considerations and many stakeholders. To this end, the party and government leadership of the company attached great importance to it, has held several meetings to discuss and study, carefully deployed and planned, organized a capable negotiating team, and decided that Wang Jingjun, the deputy general manager, should take this task himself. During the consultation process lasting more than four months, the negotiating team has carefully prepared and overcome the disagreements in the internal opinions of the trade unions by persuading the facts and reasoning to persuade the trade union representatives with uneven ability to persuade them to educate themselves, and analyzed the company's internal and external business situation for them, clarified the dialectical relationship between distribution and development, so that they could understand the long-term and essential interests of the company and the majority of workers are the same. The negotiating team also actively communicated with the relevant authorities of the Zambian government, local government leaders, leaders of MUZ and NUMAW National Federation of Trade Unions, reported the relevant situation in a timely manner, and sought the consensus of all parties to the maximum extent to gain their understanding and recognition of the company’s position and obtained positive results. Mr. Wang Chunlai, the company’s vice president and general manager of CNMC Luanshya, listened to the progress of collective consultation on many occasions and made important instructions in a timely manner so that the negotiations will always advance in the right direction. In the end, collective consultation was successful on the premise of taking into account the interests and demands of both parties.
The MUZ and NUMAW trade union organization have 840 members in the company, accounting for more than 95% of the total number of basic employees in Zambian. Maintaining the stability of the basic employees, establishing harmonious labor relations, mobilizing their enthusiasm for work, and inspiring their enthusiasm and creativity are the necessary conditions for the company to operate in accordance with the law, and it is also the premise and basis for the long-term sustainable development of the company.
