Successful Installation of 59m and 608T Main Shaft Headframe of Southeast Mine Body Project of China Nonferrous Mining Corporation
28 Aug 2017

At 1:40 PM of August 20 of Zambia local time, main shaft headframe of Southeast Mine Body of Chambishi copper mine invested by Africa Mining of CNMC was installed in place, and the headframe lifting engineering was successfully completed.

With total investment of USD 830 million, Southeast Mine Body Project of CNMC Africa Mining has a construction scale of annual ore extraction and selection capacity of 3.3 million tons and annual copper output from copper concentrate of about 63,000 tons, it is one of our great investment projects, which is planned to be put into production in third quarter of 2018.

The shaft headframe of Southeast Mine Body has a total height of 59m and a total weight of 608 tons, and it is a significant task with special high technical difficulties and safety risk levels. Under the condition that Africa is lack of key construction equipment, CNMC Africa Mining got over various difficulties, carried out several specialized meetings with the undertaking unit, the design unit, and the supervision unit for repeated design argumentations, finally come up with a double-pole headframe lifting scheme, and created a new history in mine construction in Africa.

The smooth installation of main shaft headframe lifting engineering of Southeast Mine Body solved key control node in main shaft system installation, which laid a solid foundation for coming into service of the system in January 1, 2018 as well as scheduled completion and putting into production of overall capital construction of Southeast Mine Body.
