The First Plot of Vocational Education “Going Globally” in Nonferrous Industry Settled in China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd

On 22 April, Plot Initiating Meeting of 2016 Vocational Education “Going Globally” in Nonferrous Industry was grandly held at the headquarters of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. Before this, in order to implement the spirit of promoting vocational education development pattern which matches the goal on Chinese enterprises and products ‘going globally’, improving international competitiveness and international impact of vocational education, serving ‘one belt and one road’ strategy and international capacity cooperation in State Council’s Decision on Accelerating Modern Vocational Education Development, China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association took the leading role in conducting the plot of vocational education ‘going globally’ development under Ministry of Education in late 2015 and set China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd as a plot enterprise. Also the Association made plans for plot implementation, which received official reply from Ministry of Education. This meeting announced the first plot of vocational education “going globally” in nonferrous industry was officially landed in China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd, but also a symbol of plot construction entering into implementation period.

Vocational Education and Adult Education Division of Ministry of Education inspector Wang Jiping, China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association Deputy Secretary of Party Committee Xu Shusen, general manager assistant Liang Boyi, related staff from Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Office of Education of seven provinces namely, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Shaanxi, Guangdong, Hunan and Gansu, seven colleges which participated in the plot program, people from China Nonferrous Metal Industry Human Resource Center (CNMIHR) and headquarters of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd also attended the meeting. Dai Shan, Deputy Secretary General of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association chaired the meeting.

Before the conference, representatives visited the Exhibition Hall of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd accompanied by deputy secretary Xu Shusen and general manager assistant Liang Boyi of CNMM. Vocational Education and Adult Education Division inspector Wang Jiping and China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association Deputy Secretary of Party Committee Fan Shunke delivered speeches respectively in the field of vocational education, enterprises and industries in China and nonferrous metals industry “going globally” during the meeting. Commissioned by Zhang Keli, general manager and secretary of the party committee of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd, deputy secretary Xu Shusen made a brief introduction about enterprise “going globally” and conducting vocational education. Division chief Liu Hongjie of General Office at Vocational Education and Adult Education Division in Ministry of Education announced reply from Ministry of Education on plot implementation plan of nonferrous vocational education “going globally”. Participants witnessed China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd signed Cooperation Framework Agreement with Jilin Technology College of Electronic Information, Harbin Vocational & Technical College, Nanjing Vocational Institute of Industry Technology, Hunan Nonferrous Metals Vocational and Technical College, Guangdong Construction Polytechnic, Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute and Baiyin Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, listened to the introduction on Zambia information and foreign assistance characters in Chinese vocational education by Yang Yang, Zambian Affairs supervisor of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Africa Division, and Guo Dongming, Deputy Director of Ministry of Commerce, Foreign Aid Division, as well as speech delivered by Zhao Pengfei, president of Guangdong Construction Polytechnic, on behalf of all colleges participated in. Also discussed had been made on plot specific implementation plans about Zambian projects of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd.

China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd ranked 390 of 2015 Fortune Global 500, taking the leading role in “going globally” of nonferrous industry. Central and southern Africa is a major overseas investment area of CNMM. Since entering into Zambian market in 1998, CNMM funded and established 14 enterprises in Zambia successively, with over 2.6billion USD assets, 360 million USD tax, 20 million USD donation and 15,000 employment. In the process of going globally, CNMM pays high attention to vocational education, which is the important match and support. At present, overseas enterprises of CNMM are qualified with initial conditions for vocational education “going globally”, taking in charge and established two technician training schools and one middle school with mechanical electrical and emergency as well as other majors education and training. On 21 March, 2016, Chairman Zhang Dejiang listened to the result and plans for CNMM vocational education “going globally” during his visit at Lusaka Park of Zambia-China Economy and Trade Cooperation Park funded by CNMM in the journey of his official visit in Zambia. Chairman Zhang Dejiang was happy to say that “I am delighted to know CNMM plans to establish vocational training school in Zambia, improving local youth employment capacity through enterprise schools, sending them for further study in China if it is permitted in the future, so as to provide all kinds of talents for economic development in Zambia”. In the future, CNMM will take this important speech made by Chairman Zhang Dejiang as powerful strength, implementing and promoting carefully vocational educational “going globally” plot program under the guidance of related divisions of Ministry of Education and support of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, to make greater contribution for modernization and globalization of Chinese vocational education.

By specific implementation of CNMM Zambian projects, Chinese vocational education is significant in solving labor shortage problem, enhancing local employees literacy and skills, developing local employees who understand and recognize Chinese cultures and promoting the long term development of enterprises, and helping a lot for companies funded in Zambia.
