The grand award ceremony of first “Chinese Ambassador's Award of Friendship” at Chinese Embassy in Zambia was held on local time November 18th, 2015. Tao Xinghu, President and Chairman of the Board and also President of Chinese Chamber of Commerce won the honor of “Ambassador's Award of Friendship•Outstanding Contribution Award”.
More than 300 people also present at the ceremony, they were Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Mr. Yang Youming and his wife Mrs. Geng Hailing, representative of the first president of Zambia, Mr. Kenneth David Kaunda, the fourth Republican president, Mr. Rupiah Banda, Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Given Lubinda, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Rayford Mbulu, foreign envoys of African countries in Zambia, representatives and friendly personnel from Zambian political party, military, business circle, media, social organizations and other fields, Chinese institutions and overseas Chinese representatives.
According to Mr. Yang Youming, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Zambia, many prominent people have been devoted themselves into the great cause of China and Zambia friendship, and made remarkable contributions in friendship promotion. This event was held to express our deep appreciation to all of them for the solid foundation they laid on traditional friendship between China and Zambia. I am expecting more people to participate in the development of our friendly relationship, inherit our friendship, and make the friendship tree evergreen.
Mr. Tao Xinghu’s honor certificate and medal was co-issued by Mr. Yang Youming and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mbulu. Here are his award words by Chinese Embassy in Zambia: “He shares the same passionate emotion with China and Zambia in his life. During the past 13 years rooted in Zambia, under the inspiration and encouragement of ‘China-Zambia all-weather friendship’, care and support of both governments and high sense of responsibility and mission, he has promoted nearly 2.6 billion dollars investment in Zambia by China Nonferrous Metal Group and China Nonferrous Metal Mining Group, which has increased local employment by 14,000 people. Also, under his leadership, China Nonferrous Metal Group and China Nonferrous Metal Mining Group have grown into the largest China-invested enterprises in Zambia, wring a magnificent chapter on ‘China-Zambia cooperation and common development’ in middle and southern Africa and engraving his sincerity and responsibility with no regrets.”
The first award ceremony of “Ambassador's Award of Friendship” conferred on the first president of Zambia, Kenneth David Kaunda with Lifetime Achievement Award, the fourth Republican President of Zambia Mr. Rupiah Banda, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Vernon Mwaanga, former special assistant of Kaunda, Jonah, President and Chairman of the Board of China Nonferrous Metal Mining Group, Tao Xinghu, former manager of Zhongken Farm in Zambia, Li Li and others with Outstanding Contribution Award, China’s medical team in Zambia with advanced unit award.
