General Manager Zhang Keli of CNMC Meet with Margaret Mwanakatwe, Minister of Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry of Zambia

Zhang Keli, General Manager and Party Secretary of CNMC met with Ms. Margaret Mwanakatwe, Minister of Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry of Zambia in Zambian Embassy in China on September 6, 2015.

General Manager Zhang Keli firstly expressed his thanks for long supporting of CNMC and CNMCL by Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry of Zambia. During talks, General Manager Zhang Keli introduced CNMC and CNMCL’s investments and developments in Zambia, as well as taking part in local community public welfare, providing local employment, and benefiting local people. General Manager Zhang Keli also deeply discussed with Minister Mwanakatwe on current electric power supply in Zambia. He said CNMC and CNMCL had been confronted with economic downturn and locally insufficient electric power supply in Zambia. He hoped Zambian government would cooperate with CNMC and CNMCL, and go through hardships together, keep supporting CNMC and CNMCL’s contributive enterprises, assist to solve actual problems in investments and developments, and realize “Sino-Zambia Cooperation and Common Developments”; meanwhile CNMC and CNMCL would firmly take Zambia as a base and keep expanding resource markets of nonferrous metals in central and southern Africa.

Minister Mwanakatwe conveyed greetings from President Edgar Chagwa Lungu to General Manager Zhang Keli. She pointed CNMC’s investments, developments and attainments in Zambia would mobilize more Chinese enterprises to invest in Zambia; and Zambian government would keep creating good investment environment and fully support CNMC and CNMCL’s development. President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and Zambian government paid high attention to CNMC’s current difficulties, and had taken many measures for electric power supply. Zambian government would go through difficulties with CNMC and CNMCL.

The participating Winnie Chibesakund, Zambian Ambassador in China said CNMC and CNMCL were important partners of Zambian government and its people, and CNMC and CNMCL had made great contributions to political, economic and social progress in Zambia. Zambian Embassy would keep supporting CNMC and CNMCL’s investments and developments in Zambia.
