General Manager Zhang Keli of CNMC Met with Vice-president Inonge Wina of Zambia

On June 28, 2015 (Zambia time), Zhang Keli, the General Manager and Party Committee Secretary of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (“CNMC”) - the holding group of our company (“CNMCL”), and Tao Xinghu, the Deputy General Manager of CNMC and President of CNMCL who went to companies under CNMCL built in Zambia for investigation went together to the vice-president’s residence, to meet with Inonge Wina, Zambia’s first female vice-president.
Inonge Wina welcomed their arrival, and expressed gratitude to CNMC and CNMCL for huge contributions in such aspects as promoting employment in Zambia, promoting regional economic development and assuming social responsibilities, and praised that CNMCL has contributed to the enhancement of friendship between China and Zambia. She said that achievements made by CNMC and CNMCL in Zambia are surprising, and Zambian government hoped CNMCL would continue to increase investment in Zambia and introduce China’s successful experience in operation and management into Zambia, and more investors would be attracted to learn about and invest in Zambia with Zambia-China Economic & Trade Cooperation Zone (“ZCCZ”) as the window to make greater contributions in such aspects as taxation and employment of Zambia. She emphasized that Zambian government would support enterprises under CNMC and CNMCL built in Zambia as always and provide more preferential policies support and more comprehensive legal protection for investing in Zambia.
Zhang Keli expressed thanks to Inonge Wina for her consistent care and support to CNMC and CNMCL. He said CNMC and CNMCL are the largest Chinese enterprises investing in Zambia, have invested over USD2.6 billion accumulatively in Zambia during the past 17 years and built 14 enterprises, creating jobs for over 14,000 people. He said that CNMC and CNMCL would further build and make use of ZCCZ, introduce advanced technologies and continuously increase investment in Zambia, to create job opportunities, create benefits for people here and repay its society and people. He said international copper price is low and economic situation is not optimistic but CNMC and CNMCL would adhere to the concept “no reduction of output, no reduction of employees and no reduction of investment” and try the best to make contributions to economic development and social stability of Zambia.
Such people as Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe of Zambia’s Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Permanent Secretary Scrimger of Zambia’s Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, and Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Yang Youming were present in the meeting. Responsible people of relevant departments of CNMC and relevant responsible people of ZCCZ attended the meeting.
