CNMC Luanshya Copper Mines Plc (hereinafter referred to as CLM), company’s branch in Zambia, overcame influence of rainy season and achieved smooth production and construction of the heap leach system of Muliashi Factory.

The production material of Muliashi Factory is provided by its self- owned open pit mine. According to the nature of the ore, it is divided into agitation leach and heap leach two technology systems, of which the agitation leach system has met expected output and standards. Heap leach system, according to its design, adopts heap construction and heap production construction& production organization mode. In Zambia, the rainy season starts from April, lasting up to six months, which poses a relatively big challenge for the construction and production of open-air heap leaching. In 2014, CLM has planned ahead, implemented improvements of major parts affecting the production capacity of the broken section before the rainy season to ensure normal heap production; made reasonable adjustments to the spray solution acidity and spray strength, did their utmost to ensure leaching effect, to avoid slowed leaching speed and excessive leaching media consumption caused by rainfall. By taking these measures, in 2014, CLM has effectively completed 6#-10# heap infrastructure projects, and completed 3#-7# heap construction tasks, as well as improved the flood protection and drainage system in the storage yard, which has laid a solid foundation for effectively enhancing the productivity of company in 2015.
