On July 26, 2014, “2014 Press Conference of Corporate Social Responsibility Report of China Industrial Economic Industry and the Release Ceremony of First Star List of China Industrial Enterprises” was held in the Great Hall of the People. At the conference, China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CNMC"), the holding corporation of CNMCL, released the 2013 Sustainability Report of CNMC and was accredited with the title of “Five-Star Enterprise Fulfilling Social Responsibility in China Industrial Sector (2014)”.

Gu Xiulian, Vice Chairman of the 10^th NPC standing Committee and Honorary President of China Federation of Industrial Economics (“CFIE”), and Li Yizhong, member of the Standing Committee of CPPCC, Deputy Director of the National Economic Committee, and President of CFIE, attended the conference. Mr. Li Yizhong delivered a keynote speech titled “Fulfilling CSR to Boost Quality, Efficiency and Upgrading”. Ms. Liu Meng, Chief Representative of United Nations Global Compact in China, delivered a speech. Liang Boyi, General Manager Assistant of CNMC, attended the conference and was awarded with the five-star enterprise certificate. The conference was sponsored by CFIE under the guidance of the relevant departments of the State Council including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the SASAC, the AQSIQ, and the State Administration of Work Safety, and was co-hosted by ten national industry associations (federations) involving coal, machinery, iron and steel, petro-chemistry, light industry, textiles, building materials, nonferrous metals, electric power, and mining. More than 700 people from government agencies, national industrial associations (federations), local industrial economy federations, industrial enterprises and the media attended the conference.

The 2013 Sustainability Report of CNMC released by CNMC is its third consecutive CSR report, renamed as sustainability report from 2014. Focusing on the sustainable development philosophy of “releasing resource value and building social harmony”, the report summarizes five characteristics of CNMC in fulfilling social responsibility over the three decades and constructs a sustainable development model for the first time. The report elaborates the concepts, measures and performance of CNMC in the six respects, namely global operations, independent innovation, green development, production safety, staff development, and community involvement in 2013. The detailed report is intuitive and readable, winning wide acclaim from the delegates at the conference.

The title “Five-Star Enterprise Fulfilling Social Responsibility in China Industrial Sector” represents a resource-saving and environment-friendly enterprise with advanced management level and responsibility fulfillment level in the industry, which provides good economic, environmental and social benefits. Enterprises accredited with the title for two consecutive years may apply for the mark of “CIC-STARS” (“Community Interest Companies-STARS”), which will play a positive role in building a benchmark business in the industrial sector and promoting the market competitiveness and brand influence. This rating event, which was launched in May 2014 according to the Assessment Indicator System of Social Responsibility for China Industrial Enterprises (Trial), went through a series of processes including online application, qualification assessment, initial evaluation of information system, review, solicitation of opinions from relevant departments, publicity and approval, with the ranking list of “2014 First Five-Star Enterprises Fulfilling Social Responsibility in China Industrial Sector” presented finally. The assessment covers corporate social responsibility values and strategy; management of social responsibility promotion; economic, environmental and social impacts, and innovation in responsibility fulfillment. With its outstanding performance in social responsibility as well as its economic, environmental and social impacts, CNMC has stood out from numerous candidates and won the title “Five-Star Enterprise Fulfilling Social Responsibility in China Industrial Sector (2014)”.
