Chairman Tao Luo Attending the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment ofSino-ZambianDiplomatic Relations and 90th Birthday Party of Zambian Former President Kaunda

Zambia local time, on April 21, Tao Luo, Chairman of the Board, Xinghu Tao, President, attended the “50th anniversary of the establishment of China- Zambia diplomatic relations and 90th birthday party of Zambian former President Kaunda” at the Chinese embassy in Lusaka. Zambia former President Kenneth Kaunda and his family, Yuxiao Zhou, Chinese ambassador in Zambia,Zulu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Zambia and nearly a hundred governmental and business representatives of China and Zambia attended the event.

Yuxiao Zhou, the Ambassador, first wished a happy birthday to Kaunda. He recalled the country's great history that Kaunda led Zambia people to fight against Western colonial rule and ultimately achieved national independence. He pointed out that this year wasthe 50th anniversary of both national independence and the China- Zambian diplomatic relations. Under the joint effort of Kaunda and Zedong Mao, EnlaiZhou and other leaders of the older generation of Chinese, the two countries established close friendship. In recent years, Sino-Zambian relations have made great progress with political mutual trust, continuous strengthening of high-level exchanges and deepening of the friendship between people of two countries.The traditional friendship between the two sides has got new vitality. He wished that the two countries could continue to promote and strengthenthe governmental and civilexchanges to write a new chapter of the two countries’ close friendship.

Kaunda thanked the Chinese Embassy in Zambia and all the present Chinese friends. Fondly, he recalled the two countries’ 50 years enduring friendship and the sincere friendship between him and the leaders of the older generation

of China. He thanked China for giving help on Zambian national independence and other African countries’ independence. He categorically refuted the argument of "China being a new colonialist over Africa", concocted by the Western media and stated firmly, "China is a friend and partner of Zambia." Finally, he again stressed that "the world has only one Zambiaas well as only one China," and wished the friendship between Zambia and China evergreen.

Chairman Tao Luo, in his speech, pointed out Kaunda was a household politician in China, who had a tremendous impact on Chinese society. The close Sino-Zambian friendship founded by him and the older generation of Chinese leaders had created a good environment for Chinese enterprises to invest in Zambia and benefit people in both countries. He stressed the China Nonferrous Metal Mining Group would follow the important spirit of "the Sino-African relations is nowhere butin process"to continue to lay a solid foundation forthe friendship, increase investment in Zambia, create more local employment opportunities and actively fulfill their social responsibilities so that all the Zambianpeople can benefit from the achievements of development and it would contributeto the further development of Sino-Zambian friendship and local economic and social development with more efforts.
